As the world becomes increasingly competitive and globalized, we must coach and prepare our young people for adult life and to help them achieve their full and amazing potential.

However, in the latest 2018 ranking UK students ranked an improved average of 16 but, remains in the 2nd division behind the top three countries of China, Macao and Singapore. Our national curriculum and system is clearly failing our children.

Clearly, successive cohorts of party politicians have failed our young people.

I think it’s time to take issues out of the hands of tinkering party politicians.

Action is needed

I have spoken to many locally based educationalists, head teachers and teachers and, this is what we are calling for;

  • Greater levels of investment are required to create an appropriate and meaningful education system including a radical increase in per pupil funding; plus an investment in school buildings and playing fields.
  • More investment in teachers for training and to improve their status and authority within society.
  • Just as with the Bank of England, we a more democratic and independent control of the education system, out of the hands of politicians, which will also bring stability to schools.
  • Ofsted needs a huge overhaul, and become more owned by educationalists and much more about development and about improvement
  • Put more resources into Child and Adolescent Mental Health needs to build resilience into our young people and to diagnose and intervene more effectively and quickly
  • Put more resources into parenting to help create a more positive learning culture
  • Move the balance for issuing statements in favour of parents and their children
  • Improve life coaching for our young adults on healthy cooking, budgeting and financial management, getting the most from authority and the political system…

As your local MP, I will hold a conference with schools once a year to help them improve the educational achievement of the most precious thing we have, our young people.
